Kitchen renovations Eastern Melbourne: who this stone & benchtop installation suits

A new benchtop is one of the fastest ways to lift a kitchen, and since the 2024 engineered-stone rules changed the materials on offer, choosing the right slab matters more than ever. We template, fabricate and install benchtops in porcelain, sintered stone, natural granite and marble, solid timber and low-silica alternatives.

Tell us the rough length of your cabinetry run, the material you are leaning towards and your suburb. We template the run, fabricate the slab and install it with the edge profile, returns and cut-outs you have chosen.

What our stone & benchtop installation covers

Benchtop work is quoted once we confirm the run and the material. These are the steps and inclusions we cover as standard from template to install.

Material selection

Porcelain, sintered stone, granite, marble, solid timber, laminate or low-silica engineered stone under 1% crystalline silica.

Template and fabrication

We template the cabinet run precisely, then the slab is fabricated off site to that template.

Installation

Levelled and bedded onto the cabinetry, with mitred returns and shaped overhangs as designed.

Edge profiles

A 20mm reveal (the visible front edge thickness), a mitred waterfall, or an eased or pencil edge to suit the kitchen.

Cut-outs

Sink, cooktop, tapware and power cut-outs templated and finished to the manufacturer tolerances.

Sealing and care

Natural stone is sealed on install with a care brief; porcelain and sintered stone arrive ready to use.

  3. 03

    Fabrication

The slab is fabricated off site over a couple of weeks to the template.

  4. 04

    Install

Fitted, sealed where needed, with a care brief on completion.

Stone & Benchtop Installation questions

What benchtop materials can I use now that engineered stone is banned?
Engineered stone with 1% or more crystalline silica was banned for manufacture, supply, processing and installation across Australia from 1 July 2024 under the model WHS Regulations administered by Safe Work Australia. We install low-silica alternatives instead: porcelain and sintered stone, natural granite or marble, solid timber, stainless steel, laminate, or low-silica engineered stone under 1% crystalline silica.
Can I keep my existing engineered stone benchtop?
Yes. Engineered stone benchtops installed before 1 July 2024 are grandfathered and do not need to be replaced. If we remove or modify an existing stone top during a renovation, the work is carried out using silica-safe procedures in line with Safe Work Australia guidance.
How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Eastern Melbourne?
Cost depends on scope, access, cabinetry and benchtop choices. A makeover that keeps the existing layout sits well below a full rebuild with custom joinery and structural change. We give you an itemised written quote after a measure-up so you can see exactly where the budget goes before any work starts.
How long does a kitchen renovation take?
A typical full kitchen renovation runs about 6 to 12 weeks from contract to handover. Cabinetry and stone fabrication take roughly 4 to 6 weeks of lead time, then on-site work is usually 2 to 4 weeks for install, plumbing, electrical and tiling, followed by finishing. A straight makeover is faster.
What does a kitchen makeover include compared with a full renovation?
A makeover keeps your existing layout and cabinet boxes and updates the visible elements: new doors and drawer fronts, a new benchtop, splashback, handles and sometimes appliances. A full renovation replaces the cabinetry and can change the layout, plumbing and electrical. A makeover costs less and finishes faster.
